Taken from the hybrid animal composed of a lions head, a goats body and a serpents tail, it is an unnatural fusion of disparate parts. The multifaceted element of the Chimera helps us examine the complexity of individuality, queerness, and cultural histories. This work mirrors the layers of identity and insists that contradiction and dissonance are not flaws, but constitutive parts. Rejecting hegemony, this hybrid piece uses multimedia materials to expand our idea of weaving/fine art/craft/painting/sculpture.
