I have studied  natural and synthetic dye practices and for this piece I wanted to integrate this aspect into the woven and sewn parts of the work. I employed an iced dye technique to the patchwork and sewn weaving which puts powdered dye on top of ice and in the melting allows for unique and unpredictable color combination. I wanted some spontaneity to the rigidity of the stretched canvas.
